The main conventions consist of;
- The title of the film- To introduce the name of the film to the audience and perhaps give them the idea of what the film is going to consist of.
- Settings/location introduced also perhaps the time era, this will allow the audience to know when the film is set and also where the film is set to give the essence and whole idea of the film. A film set in the 1960's will perhaps look very different to a film set in the present day.
- Idents- will show production companies(those who make the films) and the distribution companies(those who get the film out to viewers). Idents are visual logos which show the representative brand who had a par in making the film or getting it out there.
- The date or title credits could give added info to the audience like who is in the film and where the film is set.
- The soundtrack is also very important as it will set the atmosphere to a movie, a soundtrack is able to communicate what type of film it is and what it could be about.
- Characters will be introduced, it could be a very important character or perhaps it could be somebody who has a lot of impact but not much role in the film.
- The title sequence will also introduce or set up themes and perhaps a plot for the movie, this could be very obvious or it could be more subtle.
The overall purpose of the title sequence us to entice the audience and set the tone of the film, it will also introduce characters and their roles in the film and perhaps the title sequence will introduce to the audience how significant the characters are. The main purpose of the title sequence is to introduce who made the film, so the distributers and production are the main reasons it exists.
